Completely confused I'm afraid

Hello. Apologies but I have looked but I still have no idea how to start. My GP has agreed that I need a referral but have simply pointed me at Right To Choose. I have read the details here but it’s all too general.

I have no idea how I go about finding and selecting a suitable provider that is part of Right To Choose and I am equally hobbled by the fact due to family circumstances I cannot travel more that an hour from my home (in any direction) Assuming I simply google ‘ADHD assessment providers in (my area)’ what am I looking for on their site (qualifications, are private practioners covered etc)

I know its probably simple but my brain is exploding in several dozen directions at once at the moment. Appreciate any help.

Regards

Gavin

Hi, welcome to the forum. It’s completely understandable to feel that way and I’m glad you reached out.

If you’re happy to share which ICB your area falls under I/ someone else can hopefully share some ways forward and any updates  (link below for postcode search if you’re not sure)

Hello, thank you for the response. I am in Humberside & North Yorkshire ICB.

Thanks for sharing the ICB. The page below has information on what your ‘Right to Choose’ is, what the process and options look like, and a postcode search, which brings up a list of Right to Choose providers whose websites you can view. However ive also put a link to Humberside and North Below too

Right to Choose gives you the option to have your NHS care done by any part of NHS England. If you have a long local NHS wait time, you can go elsewhere.

  1. A summary of Right to Choose and more information:

2. Humberside and North Yorkshire assessment data

(scroll to the bottom of this link to see different providers and estimated wait times). Always check on the provider’s website to check actual wait times as these can be updated regularly.

If you have any questions at all after checking out these two links, feel free to pop them here

Here is a link to the ADHD support groups which you might find helpful too!

Thank you so much. Died how bad my brain is when I simply couldn’t find that when it’s right there!. Much appreciate the help!

Gavin

Pleasure! Just shout if you have any questions as they come up
