Diagnosed, On Meds, Work and Life

Hi there,

لييوو: تعابير وجه مضحكة

I dont know if this will get much traction, but I know I want to share my story.

I got diagnosed at about 25, and started titration about 9 months ago, i am currently now 27.

Medication does not magicly fix everything, work I have outstanding tasks that i said i would complete and i feel shame becuase of that, my room is a total mess at the moment. But what meds have done for me is make things more manageable, not perfect, but manageable.

Being an adullt diagnosed with adhd, and having a very well rounded and experienced life, due to my goals, triggers and ADHD make up, i think i have a lot to offer people who think they have adhd/ have it/ are diagnosed or going through the medication process.

I dont know where this will take us, but i know my voice needs to be heard becuase i know i can help others.

Back when i was younger i used to smoke a lot of weed (unknowingly to me i was self medicating), but one of the consequences of me smoking was anxiety, and that in turn made me unable to speak when i was high/ under the influence of weed.

This is interesting as now i am using my voice to connect and bring people together, lets see where this page takes us, maybe it will be a one off ADHD hyperfocus and then dissapear into the internet,

Try to be kind to yourself, i know easier said than done,

i struggle with this, the world can and is cruel to neurodiverse people and it becomes very loud and overwhelming,

Till the next post,

Hi, welcome and thank you for sharing part of your story. It sounds like you’ve been through a lot, and it’s great that you are noticing positive changes even through challenges and despite it not being perfect. Offering some encouragement helps others feel less on their own.

A relief for me after my diagnosis was starting to get more comfortable with positive changes not always being linear, and gradually taking off the pressure to seem like I have it ‘all together’.

Link below to the Facebook community too, in case you haven’t come across it yet!

Thank you I don’t have Facebook, but I’m interested in the groups that adhd uk does or other support groups that are available, do you have any recommendations?

Sure!
