Hi, first post. About 5 years ago I asked my doctor to refer me. He said I was so old it wasn’t worth it, and anyway, the lists were closed in my area. I have been left with a deep frustration having one countless online test positively and my life history would be validated by a diagnosis. However! If I could only get help to manage it that would be fine! Diagnosis unnecessary. Just looking for practical advice. Fed up trying to keep track of everything for not only myself, but my partner too, who has an aversion to doing his share of running a household. My life is full of plans/notebooks, sticky notes, alarms, reminders, diaries, calendars and so on. I think I make it worse! Any advice gratefully received.
Hi, Firstly, I want to acknowledge the frustration and to say that your personal experience, no matter your age, along with conversations around diagnosis, assessment, and exploring means of support, are absolutely ‘worth it’. Sad to hear that this was what you were told. However, the hope is that you will find helpful support, including practical advice as you mentioned.
Do you find any particular ways of note-taking, alarms, calendars work well for you, and others not so well, and is your reference to ‘making it worse’ based on switching between lots of things to stay on track?
This can inform some of the tips and pointers offered here. For example, happy to share some ideas for integrating your efforts to keep track ![]()
