I have already been diagnosed through Right to Choose with Pshychiatry UK. Before I was due to start medication titration, they discharged me for not responding to their message in time, I was also not at my home address at the time. They told me to ask me GP to re- refer me, which I did, and they refused me. Does anyone have any advice on the best path for me to get medication now? I haven’t get found a GP that does shared care, and not sure if its worth a referral to a different right to choose provider. Thank you!!!

The most straight forward path towards accessing medication would be to ask your GP for a new referral to a different approved RTC provider. It does restart the process which can be frustrating but it’s the clearest option over paying for private treatment.

Would this be the case for a similar situation regarding medication after titration? My GP has withdrawn shared care, but prior to that I had been re-referred by Psych UK to titration as my original med became ineffective after my HRT was changed to include testosterone. I asked to try a non-stimulant med at my annual review. Am I facing a £1000 bill just to try out the last med available to me now my GP has withdrawn? (I have a draft post ready about this but still can’t actually post.)
When shared care is withdrawn and you’ve been referred for titration with the same provider, then you are still under the provider care and would need to explore options made available by them. The exception would be if your GP were to make an appeal to your integrated care board (ICB) with a case for a brand new ‘Right to Choose’ referral.
Specific medication isn’t something Im able to go into closer detail with as I’m not a medical professional, but I understand the non stimulant options are limited and it must be tough having the shared care removed.
