Medicine Titration Time Limit 3 Months from Oct 26

Hi

I’m am hoping you might be able to put my mind at ease. I was diagnosed with ADHD through Right to Choose on the 5th of August this year. I started medicine titration on 20th September. I have had the initial medicine appointment and one follow up appointment yesterday (14th September). It is going well so far but I may need a few more titration appointments. What is concerning me is that the prescriber advised me that the ICB (I think) is changing the time limit for titration to 3 months with effect from the end of October. I am not sure if I will be stable and on the right medication and dosage by then. And what if I am then handed back to my GP (because the titration time limit has expired) but I may not be on the right medication at the right dose. As far as I am aware my GP would not be able to change medication or doses. If this is introduced would it apply retrospectively to me as I am already in the system.

If this does happen, do you know what options I would have to make sure I am on the right dose, and also that it is prescribed by my GP.

When I started this process my GP did confirm that they do right to choose and support shared care. My ICB Surrey and Sussex

Please can you advise if you know any more about this change and how it works?

Hi, if you are currently under titration this should not affect you unless you have been informed and it’s explicitly stated (i.e. applies to those currently under titration). I think it would be worth contacting your provider and GP directly and asking them to confirm if and how the new ICB rule might affect you and your concerns. If you receive written confirmation it can help reassure you!
