Hi all, my wife moved to UK in January and has been having a real run around with getting ADHD meds prescription.
She was diagnosed in America years ago and was on stable meds dose. She has letters, reports etc. GP in greater Manchester (Bury ) initially referred to RTC provider but then she was told once process of reassessment started that ICB was pausing all non urgent assessments.
She is really struggling without meds. Trying to get work is a nightmare with unmanaged symptoms. All the GP will do is give Sertraline (shed been on ritalin and wellbutrin in US but they refuse to prescribe here).
She’s so desperate she was willing to go private for script and stabilisation… But our GP refuses shared care requests. Literally then send a brief blunt message saying “we do not accept shared care”.
This seems so wrong. I’m sure this can’t be right. Any ideas?
Hi, it’s such a difficult situation that your wife is in and sorry to hear that she is struggling. Going from her previous prescription to nothing im sure has been really tough.

Sadly I don’t have any Right to Choose ideas which could help with the restrictions set by greater Manchester ICB (Freedom of Information response to ADHD UK:
The first link I attached has a list of providers which you can also use as reference if your wife ever considers fully private ongoing treatment.
Online support: Support - ADHD UK and local support groups can be a way of hearing from more people local to you on this as well as general ongoing support in what is a tough time. One example of local support: Peer support meetings – mADDchester
Thanks for your post and welcome to the forum. dont hesistate to come back with other questions as they come up, and hope some of the links above help
