Unexplained transfer over to Primary Care Network Services from RTC Psych UK - confused!

Hi all,

I’ve never done anything like this before but, my GP practice referred me to my local PCN service, without telling me. I was contacted out of the blue for an appointment at a different surgery. No explanation on what was happening or why - just that I had an ‘ADHD assessment’ to which I replied that I have had my diagnosis for 2+ years and been medicated for the last 6 months.

I have just attended the appointment and the clinician was very warm and helpful. However, I was asked whether I wanted to transfer to their PCN service so I’m basically solely under the NHS again, due to RTC being taken away in my area (Merseyside). I am a counsellor as well and have many clients on the pathway, with a loved one also at crisis point but, awaiting an assessment. So, this post is not just concern for myself but, to understand what the hell is going on before making any decision? Is anyone aware what is happening regarding this?

In my gut, it does not feel right and although the clinician I saw was very sweet and understanding - I voiced my concerns about transference from Psych Uk (a service I have not found to be great by any means) but, raised concerns around the suddenness, lack of communication and potentially losing access to my much needed ADHD prescription. And then my worry that if I don’t, the service will become inundated and Psych UK will be ‘blacklisted’ (as is what my pharmacist said this morning to me) and all of us under them will end up in a crisis with no access to meds or support, should it be needed.

I am writing here as I said I need to make an informed decision and with the hush hush of it all/lack of communication and clarity surrounding this - I’m wondering if any has any advice or information pertaining to this, or experienced something similar recently?

I need to make a decision quite quickly (without I feel much information) but, most of all I’m terrified for my clients/patients awaiting assessments or not yet diagnosed and what this means for them?!

Any help, advice or information around what the hell is going on would be so greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much in advance!
